I am sure this question has been asked before...but what the hell.
So how does trade work in Guild War anyways?
Does anyone know what is the max limit on how much credits one can have..

I have not played any beta events yet, cant wait till march 18th.
And which is the best prof to craft armors and such...

if you dont know if someone asked a question about it do a threadseach but the trade right now is you click on their name and click trade, but they are working on somekinda auction house or something like that no one really knows exactly

and you do not craft armor in any profession

you take the materials needed and pay a crafter to do it for you

Thanks for the info so far.
Ok, so there is on prof making any item in the game right.
How much importance does credits/money play in the game. I guess you can sell loot to players/NPC?
How does one make money....and you know, but armor, better weapons and stuff...
Is it getting iron ignots and stuff and giving it to NPCs to make em?

yes, you make armour by giving iron and stuff to npcs (non-player charectors, but you can ussually find your weapons. and you probably, shouldnt sell high value things to NPCs, like black dye to npcs is like 5 gold, but to other players, well im selling one for 150 and the way you make money is ussually from selling items, or by pveing some monsters drop gold

Once again, thanks for the info.

I didnt get an answer for this question though.
What is the max limit on how much money you can have. I just want to get a sense of how much 1 credit in the game was worth like.

as far as i know nobody has maxed out their gold so it is probably more than i will ever see

i think the economy will have to sort of shake out a bit to give any real answer to be honest

Wait wait wait wait.... so, its like, you can get more money for selling the same item to a different NPC? Like one gives you 10 gold while anotehr would give you 100 for the exact same item? That would be awesome and very realistic.

no, if your refering to what i said than, you would get 10 gold from a custimizer (npc) as you would 100 gold from real players, i guess this is to keep the economy up, it would keep the echonomy up because if you sell something to a npc its gone, its not like someone else can buy it, so by making the price you sell to an npc lower that makes you want to sell to other players witch helps the economy. make sense?

Getting weapons is a matter of either buying them from another human player who found it (and he'll rip you off if he can like in any other MMO) or finding it yourself by killing things. There is no way to buy or craft your weapons from NPC traders.
To get armours, you simply take the right crafting materials and a bit of gold to the crafter and he will make you the type of armour you select. You can only make armour that is specific to your class and as soon as you get it, it is customized to you (it's like a money sink - so you can't give your old stuff to newbs). Armour crafters in different locations make different armours or different leveled armours. For instance, if I buy my armour from Lion's Arch, it will be level 15, but if I get it from Ascalon, it will all be level 5 armour, and from Ventari's Dell, it will be level 20 (there will probably be lots of level 20 armour traders... and the level on your armour doesn't matter at all... Any level can wear level 20 armour but you must have gotten to the crafter to get it - that's why customizing is important - no newbs wearing level 20 armour).
The unit of currency is the Gold coin, however playing in Guild Wars seem to like to barter a lot more than in other games because crafting materials are always a hot item. You can make your own armour out of them or you can jack up the price and sell it to someone else if it's not for your class (warriors use iron ingots a lot, rangers use hides a lot, etc.)

You probably don't know about upgrade components so i'll get to that real quick... Upgrade components are things that you can put on your weapon or armour to make them better. Armour upgrade components are generally just runes - which will boost an attribute a little bit (at the cost of HP). Weapon upgrades are things like Bow Grips and Bow Strings, Hammer Hafts and Grips, Sword Pummels and Hilts, and so on. Upgrade components can do anything from changing your damage from physical to an elemental type to giving you energy every time you hit someone to giving you a tiny boost in defence.


Salvaging items is another big thing in Guild Wars. If you find a drop and you don't want it (or you can't use it without salvaging it), then you need to salvage it. You can buy a Salvage kit from the outfitters which are scattered around town for about 10 gold. Using a Normal Salvage kit (as opposed to an expert one) will give you back some of the raw materials used in the item. This is how people collect all their hides or iron ingots to make armour. Salvaging items with an Expert Salvage kit can sometimes give you much better things such as upgrade components for your weapons, or even runes for your armour which can greatly increase your effectiveness ... but they cost 40 gp each (and both of them only have 25 uses). There are also Identification Kits but I myself am not exactly sure what these are for... It's something to do with uncovering hidden attributes on weapons but I don't know the finer points - i never use the things (40 gp for 5 uses is a bit steep)

Actually you are wrong Wheezer. There was a crafter in Old Ascaelon that could make the starting weapons with a small bonus. The axe that I made had a +5 health modifyer and i think +1 attack against char. It's base dammage was not much better than what I was finding off of mobs, but it was a craftable weapon (i think it was somthing like 4 iron and 2 or 1 wood and some ammount of gold). They also had a hammer, sword, many different +energy to hold with offhand(all +5 energy they each just had different looks), a wand I think and maby a bow (kinda fuzzy on the bow)

If you sell to a Non-Player-Character, (outfitter,craftsman) the item you sell is not gone from the game......it would simply cost more for you to buy it back and usually sells for such a small amount compared to what you can get on the open market by selling to other players.
